Here's a quick recap of how I prepared for my first gravel race, started the race, and then didn't finish the race. Plus, you'll get a taste of the first 1/3 of the course from the GoPro 10 POV. This was a 100 mile race that was split into 2 laps, and I thought I'd grab my extra batteries and now where and how to film for a better video production during my 2nd lap... unfortunately the 2nd lap didn't happen. If you're asking "how do I get started gravel racing?" I have a list of things not to do. 1. don't ride a mountain bike 2. don't let your feet freeze 3. don't go without a map 4. don't go alone 5. don't wait til the last second to go pee 6. don't wait til the race begins to put your gloves on 7. don't try new sunglasses for the very first time on race day 8. don't sign up 3 days before the race and expect to have a great outcome With that being said, this was a super fun ride and I'm glad I did it. The organizers were fantastic and made my first experience of racing incredible. I had a couple friends racing and it was great to catch up with them. The food was great, and they even had a vegan option.
