Student protestor Wai Oo from Yangon told Sky News that the protest will continue despite the “violence” and “detainment” of anti-coup protestors by the military in Myanmar. “Although they are being shot and killed, people are not afraid," he said. “The protests are getting bigger and bigger". Although the violence and detainment of anti-coup protestors have increased, Wai Oo said that social media reporting on the issue had made them more aware of their need to stop the coup. “Because of social media everyone is starting to be aware that we need to eradicate this military coup happening in Burma- it happened a few decades ago and now we don’t want this to happen again.” He said these protests are peaceful and they will continue to fight peacefully until they effect the change they desire. “Everyone is being non-violent at the moment but still the military government starts shooting the peaceful protestors and killing them.” He said the movement is hopeful change will occur as the democratically elected government, the CRPH, mobilised outside support. “There is a sense of hope and at the same time the officially elected government, the CRPH, is also trying to negotiate with organisations around the world". “They are also trying to negotiate with some of the armed forces around Burma and are trying to make their own federal army in case things get worse.”
